This sentiment was engraved on a ring presented to Thomas Jefferson's daughter upon their departure from France. It was a marriage proposal. Jefferson's daughter never returned and never married.
This delicately decorated tray features the French Barbeaux pattern,with blue cornflowers, popular at the time Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin were ambassadors at the French Court of King Louis XVI.
